- Borrowed words get Telugu-ised predictably, and copying that accent is what makes you sound local. English t and d become retroflex ట/డ — కంప్యూటర్ is “kampyū-ṭar”, tongue curled back. Words rarely end in a bare consonant, so a light -u appears: కీబోర్డు . The ఛ in ఛార్జర్ carries a real puff of air. For the formal words watch the retroflex ణ in గణన

- కంప్యూటర్ with a dental t ❌ — use retroflex ṭ or it sounds distinctly foreign.
- ఛార్జర్ → “charger” with a soft ch ❌ — ఛ is aspirated: chhār-jar.
- అంతర్జాలం rushed to three beats ❌ — it is four: an-tar-jā-laṁ.
- సమాచారం with short a’s ❌ — the second and third are long: sa-mā-chā-raṁ.
- యంత్రం with a hard final m ❌ — ం is a nasal resonance, lips closing gently.

- Telugu speakers almost never say అంతర్జాలం aloud — it sounds like reading a government circular. Real speech is proudly code-mixed: “నా ఫోన్లో నెట్ పని చేయట్లేదు.” Keep the sentence frame Telugu, let the tech nouns stay English. But do learn పని చేయట్లేదు — that one phrase solves half of all tech complaints in Telugu.

- Government portals such as Meeseva publish in formal Telugu, which is why the pure terms still matter for forms and competitive exams. Meanwhile WhatsApp voice notes are preferred over typing across all generations, because Telugu script typing is slower than speaking and tone carries respect that text loses.
