ഫോൺ (phōṇ) and മൊബൈൽ (mobail) are both common. സന്ദേശം (sandēśam) is message, but message itself is also widely used. ആപ്പ് (āppŭ), ഫയൽ (phayal), and പാസ്‌വേഡ് (pāsvēḍ) appear in daily speech, banking, school apps, and government services. Technology borrowings should not be forced into heavy English stress. കമ്പ്യൂട്ടർ (kampyūṭṭar) has a doubled ṭṭ sound. ലാപ്‌ടോപ്പ് (lāptōppŭ) and ആപ്പ് (āppŭ) need a short final sound. തുറക്കുക (thuṟakkuka) has ṟ and doubled kk, while തിരയുക (thirayuka) has a soft r-like sound.

• Keep phōṇ short and nasal at the end.
• Say pāsvēḍ gently; the final ḍ is not a long English d.
• Do not over-pronounce download and upload like a full English sentence.

• Trying to replace every tech word with a rare pure Malayalam word; common borrowed words are expected.

Malayalam digital life is huge in WhatsApp families, Gulf diaspora groups, YouTube channels, online church and mosque notices, temple festival posters, and Mollywood fan pages. People often type Malayalam in Roman letters, Malayalam script, or mixed English. For learners, reading native script slowly is worth the effort because names, jokes, and emotional messages feel different when written in Malayalam.

If helping an elder with a phone, keep instructions short: ആപ്പ് തുറക്കൂ (āppŭ thuṟakkū), open the app, or പാസ്‌വേഡ് ഇടൂ (pāsvēḍ iṭū), enter the password. Avoid long technical explanations until the person reaches the correct screen.
