Who we are
DeshKaBasha.in is a free Indian-language learning website run by Yasa Rahul from India. We teach Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. You can reach us any time at deshkabasha.in@gmail.com.
The short version
You can read every lesson on this site without giving us anything. We do not ask you to create an account. We do not sell your data. The only personal information we ever hold is an email address you type into a form yourself.
What we collect
1. Information you give us
- Email address — only if you sign up for the Daily Word, request a phrase, or send us a message. Used to reply to you or send the words you asked for. Nothing else.
- Message content — whatever you type into the contact, suggestion or review form.
2. Information stored on your own device
Your lesson progress, completed lessons, streak, saved theme (light or dark) and quiz results are kept in your browser using localStorage. This never leaves your device and never reaches our server. Clearing your browser data erases it permanently, and we cannot recover it.
3. Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our host records standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, time of visit) for security and troubleshooting.
Cookies and advertising
We may display advertising supplied by Google. When we do:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices.
- Third-party vendors may use the DoubleClick DART cookie. See Google’s advertising policies.
We do not control the cookies set by advertising partners, and this policy does not cover their practices.
Analytics
We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which lessons are useful. This reports totals and trends, not individual identities.
Audio and speech
Listen buttons use your device’s built-in speech engine or an audio file served from this site. We never access your microphone and never record you.
Children
This site is educational and suitable for all ages, but it is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us their email address, write to us and we will delete it.
How long we keep things
Email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Every Daily Word email carries a one-click unsubscribe link. Messages sent through the contact form are kept only as long as needed to answer you.
Your rights
Email deshkabasha.in@gmail.com and you may ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it entirely. We will act on the request. There is no charge and you do not need to give a reason.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. No method of transmission over the Internet is perfectly secure, but we do not store payment details or passwords, which removes the most sensitive risks.
Links to other sites
Where we link to another website, that site has its own privacy policy and we are not responsible for it.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page.
